We are thrilled to welcome our new neighbour Prada to The Hotel’s ground floor retail space from the end of October. This flagship store is the first-ever dedicated outlet for Miuccia Prada’s inimitably sleek brand of Italian style in Brussels and a wonderful new addition to the exclusive fashion brands that line the Boulevard de Waterloo. The stunning design dreamed up for the new store will become the template for future new Prada stores worldwide. A presto, Prada!

Culinaria: a taste adventure

Culinaria experience

The Culinaria festival of gastronomy returns to Brussels from 18th to 22nd October, with over thirty of Belgium’s best chefs showcasing their culinary talents. Each participating chef has developed a dish especially for the festival and with three different five-course gourmet menus to choose from each night, Culinaria is the perfect opportunity to taste and explore the very best of Belgian cuisine. The festival also offers a unique opportunity for foodies to see their idols at work, preparing dishes in the open kitchens, or even sitting down to share a special Sunday brunch on 22nd October.

This year’s line-up includes big names such as Lionel Rigolet (Comme Chez Soi), Yves Mattagne (Sea Grill), and The Restaurant’s own Pierre Balthazar, who will be serving a very special dish of marinated mi-cuit tuna with golden enoki mushrooms, burrata and coriander.

Why not combine a trip to Culinaria with a night in the stars at The Hotel, with our special offer, combining a VIP Passport to the festival plus a night in your choice of room?

Brussels Celebrity Marathon

Marathon

Meet some Belgian sporting heroes and raise money for a very worthy cause this Saturday 14th October. The charity La Tête hors de l’Eau, which supports and funds reconstructive surgery, artificial limbs and support services for disabled youngsters, is organizing a fundraising relay “marathon” at the Brussels David Lloyd health club.  Twenty teams – including one from The Hotel – will take it in turns to run on twenty treadmills until they have racked up a full marathon distance: 42,195 kilometres! Radio and TV personalities will provide real-time commentary and ranking of the participating teams.

In addition to the run, the event will feature demonstrations of Olympic and Paralympic sports by Belgian celebrity athletes, including John John Dohmen, captain of the Olympic silver medal winning Red Lions hockey team, voted best player in the world in 2017. There are also fun activities for children and the opportunity to have your picture taken with some of your sporting heroes.

If you would like to join The Hotel’s team or simply come along to cheer all the athletes on, you can find more details here.

Art, art and … art

Brussels is becoming more and more the go-to place for artists and fairs all around the world. From antiques to contemporary pieces, from architecture to paintings – with its rich art history (Magritte and Horta just to name a few) and its central location, it is no wonder why Belgium is slowly but surely becoming Europe’s artistic hub.

The Hotel couldn’t be happier about this trend as we have a strong connection with art. Whether it is our fashion photography throughout the property or our iconic fashion library, art & design is in every corner. That’s why we love to welcome initiatives like the Accessible Art Fair to the city.

Accessible Art Fair (ACAF) has a long standing tradition with both fairs in Brussels as well as New York. ACAF’s mission is to offer a platform for artists and designers and make them accessible to a discerning audience. It offers the opportunity to purchase quality works of art and design and meet the creators behind the work. All of the works are carefully selected and handpicked by a panel of experts which guarantees the quality of the art presented.

Purchasing a work of art might seem daunting to some. Accessible Art Fair strives to make this experience as pleasant as possible by removing the barriers between the buyer and the artist.

They put the public directly in touch with the artists behind the work. ACAF has been bringing original art, photography, design and sculpture to the art buying public since 2006, so this 11th year is bound to be a success as well!
