Art in Brussels with Eurantica

For centuries, art has been the expression of human creativity and imagination. Painting, sculpture, literature and even fashion. It’s a concept that keeps evolving over time.

Everyone has their own definition of art and it can be perceived and interpreted in many different ways. Every person has their own feelings and hence has a different appreciation of any particular piece of art. The magic of art consists of letting our imagination speak and expressing our feelings, that’s the real essence.

Brussels inhabitants are blessed with a city that offers an array of beautiful architectural works, going from the City-Hall of Brussels to the Horta museum and many other monumental buildings. It is therefore no wonder that multiple exhibitions take place in Brussels on a yearly basis as the city is considered as one of the best-kept places of art nouveau and contemporary art. offering a pleasant moment to the art enthusiasts, and the opportunity to share their passion amongst them.

At The Hotel we want our clients to have the opportunity to experiment this unique feeling of being captured by a piece of art. Therefore art is omnipresent in The Hotel and we recommend to our guests to take the time to explore the ‘universe of art’ through the exhibitions in Brussels.

This month The Hotel recommends the “Fine Art Fair Eurantica” in Mechelen. This fair is heaven for art lovers, vintage design enthusiasts and guests of The Hotel with a passion for all things pretty.

Uptown Design Logo

Uptown Design

This year the second edition of the Uptown Design, located in the upper part of Brussels, doubled its size and welcomes many new prestigious locations! The challenges, remain the same: present talented designers living in Belgium in shops and hotels of Boulevard de Waterloo, Avenue de la Toison d’Or and Avenue Louise. Those areas, well known to gather famous brands from Belgium or all over the world, must become a discovery place for Belgian creation as well. Once a year, they become privileged partners for belgian design.

A luxury limited edition

Each designer will present a set of a limited edition or new pieces designed in luxurious or precious material: leather, corian, precious woods, metals and stones…

The pieces will be available for sale, on the spot, directly from the designer. Uptown Design’s assets is to offer exceptional Belgian items to target an audience of collectors and lovers of art and design.

Design by Pol Quadens

Paul Quadens

If many people consider the Belgian artist Pol Quadens as a designer in the art market, his creative way is completely sculptural. Every piece is selected for its exclusivity, the choice of material but mostly for its unique character which gives advantage to expressivity rather than to functionality. When a bench is not really a bench anymore, or when a lamp becomes a cinetic piece of art… Then design challenges its own goal and free itself towards a new world.

Delphos Dress by Isabelle de Borchgrave

The Hotel is delighted to be able to showcase another dress by prominent Belgian Artist and Sculptor Isabelle de Borchgrave:
Delphos Dress by Isabelle de Borchgrave

Her “Delphos Dress, 2012″ is inspired by the creations of Mariano Fortuny (1900’s), and is 100% made out of newspapers from Le Soir for its 125th birthday. It’s currently located on the 24th floor of The Hotel Brussels, just in front the fashionable Panorama Lounge.

The shape of the dress and its pleating remind of the crossing between the East and Venise at the beginning of the 20th century.

Inspired, and want to discover more works by Isabelle? She welcomes you in her studio in Brussels for a private tour every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. For more info and subscriptions visit www.isabelledeborchgrave.com.
