Museum Night Fever

From 7.00 pm to 1.00 am, musicians, DJs, performers, dancers, actors, light sculptors and fashion students will be sharing with us how they see the museums’ collections. The intention of Museum Night Fever is to provide an alternative to the classic museum visit with an experimental and multidisciplinary programme.

Once again the programme is extremely varied – details will be available online at www.museumnightfever.be.

There will also be things to do outside the museums too, with all kinds of artistic interventions around the museums, plus performances and soundscapes inspired by the museums in the shuttle buses.

For the blind or partially sighted, bookings can be made for tailored support in the form of a ‘Blind Date’, a volunteer who will accompany them all evening to make the event accessible with the help of live and personalized audio description.

Special STIB shuttles will be operating between the various participating museums from 7.00 pm until 1.00 am. The shuttle service is included in the ticket price. New this year: your ticket will also allow you to use Noctis buses.

Brussels Ice Magic including a room of The Hotel made out of ice

About 20 artist-sculptors from across the globe have reproduced dozens of famous characters and scens taken from the world of comic strips, but set in a typically Brussels’ setting…

420 tonnes of natural ice have been transformed, creating the worlds of TinTin, Quick & Flupke, the Smurfs, Gaston Lagaffe, Asterix, Boule et Bill, Thor, Spiderman, Lucky Luke, Thorgal and many others. Some of the sculptures and scenes are up to six meters high!

Especially for this occasion The Hotel has created a special offer – the Brussels Ice Magic Package – wich includes your entry for the Ice Magic Festival as well as a stay in The Hotel for one night, breakfast included!

Delphos Dress by Isabelle de Borchgrave

The Hotel is delighted to be able to showcase another dress by prominent Belgian Artist and Sculptor Isabelle de Borchgrave:
Delphos Dress by Isabelle de Borchgrave

Her “Delphos Dress, 2012″ is inspired by the creations of Mariano Fortuny (1900’s), and is 100% made out of newspapers from Le Soir for its 125th birthday. It’s currently located on the 24th floor of The Hotel Brussels, just in front the fashionable Panorama Lounge.

The shape of the dress and its pleating remind of the crossing between the East and Venise at the beginning of the 20th century.

Inspired, and want to discover more works by Isabelle? She welcomes you in her studio in Brussels for a private tour every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. For more info and subscriptions visit www.isabelledeborchgrave.com.

Legendary costumes of Rock & Pop heroes to admire in Brussels: “Hard Rock Couture”

From May 8 until May 19 music & fashion lovers can enjoy the exhibition “Hard Rock Couture” at the Musical Instruments Museum (= mim) in Brussels. This free expo is an initiative by Hard Rock Café, and it shows some really amazing, wild and historical costumes from the Hard Rock collection like for example the iconical golden corset by Jean Paul Gaultier, that Madonna was wearing for ‘Like a Virgin‘ during her ‘Blonde Ambition’ tour in 1990. But also the red leather vest of Michael Jackson from his videoclip ‘Beat It‘, and Freddy Mercury‘s outfit from Queen‘s Jazz tour in 1978. The collection really shows a unique part of music history, and gives music and fashion fans a chance to discover this story from a very short distance.
