How to spend 2 days in Brussels?

Brussels, Belgiums capital, is an excellent choice for your next city break. Brussels is easily walkable and supported by a convenient public transportation system which allows you to visit many of the capital’s iconic monuments, sights and attractions during your 2 days in the city.

To help you navigate Brussels we’ve put together this list of 18 of the most popular visitor attractions that will leave you feeling like a true bruxellois after only a weekend.

Day 1: Brussels Lower Town


Lower Town is the old part of Brussels and a district of broad streets, narrow terraced townhouses, cobbled paths and mysterious alleyways. Attractions to add to your list include:

  • Brussels Town Hall

Situated in the Grand Place, this is a landmark building in Brussels

  • Maison du Roi (King’s House)

This gothic style building houses the Brussels City Museum

  • Manneken Pis

Did you know that the Mannken Pis has over 1000 outfits?

  • Comic Strip Walk

Brussels is known around the world for its street art

  • Church of Sainte Catherine

A Catholic church with gorgeous Victorian interiors. The square near the church is extremely lively and has a lot of restaurants.

  • Museum of Comics

The building is designed by the famous Belgian architect - Victor Horta

  • The Atomium Complex

There are usually concerts or various exhibitions taking place near the Atomium. Be sure to check them out!

  • Royal Greenhouses in Laeken Park

Every spring, the Royal Greenhouses of Laeken are open to the public for 3 weeks. It is an excellent opportunity to see the wonderful architecture of Alphonse Balat.

  • Monument of Leopod I in Laeken Park

In the center of a gallery with nine bays, each symbolizing one of the nine former Belgian provinces, is a sculpture of King Leopold I

Day 2: Brussels Upper Town


For the second day of our weekend in Brussels you can visit the upmarket Upper Town with its affluent districts, designer stores, government offices and trendy bars. Choose from the following for day two:

  • Brussels Park (Parc de Bruxelles and Warandepark)

A tranquil park with secluded little leafy clearings, a bandstand, a theatre, two fountains and a few kiosks serving refreshments

  • The Royal Palace of Brussels

Although The Royal Palace of Brussels is the official palace of the King and Queen of the Belgians, the current King and Queen live in the Royal Palace of Laeken in northern Brussels.

  • The Musical Instruments Museum

The 1200 most interesting instruments are assembled in 4 galleries, enhanced by images, sound and text panels

  • Mont Des Arts

Situated on the North-South axis that connects the lower part of the city with the upper, the Mont des Arts has had quite an eventful history

  • St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral

A medieval Roman Catholic cathedral in central Brussel

  • Place du Grand Sablon and Sablon Square

Be sure to attend an antiques market in the area over the weekend!

  • The European Quarter and European Parliament

Did you know that Brussels is the capital of the EU?

  • Parc du Cinquantenaire

The park was built in 1880 for the 50th anniversary of the independence of Belgium. The broad pathways lead to the Pavilion of Human Passions designed by Victor Horta, the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces & Military History, the Royal Museums of Art and History and to Autoworld.

Discover over 250 European and American vintage automobiles from the late 19th century to the 20th century
