A Slice of Urban Luxury at The Hotel Brussels

Discover what travel blogger and journalist Polly Allen, of The Travelling Calavera, thought of The Hotel when she checked in for five days of luxurious relaxation and panoramic city views. Here’s a hint of what she loved about staying here…

Polly Allen

‘Set just a stone’s throw from the exclusive shopping street of Avenue Louise, The Hotel Brussels takes its cue from its stylish surroundings and creates something that never goes out of fashion. I saw this for myself when I took the short walk from the Louise Metro station to the complex, passing Versace, Chanel and Jimmy Choo stores in the process. Stepping inside the building, my jaw began to drop as I took in the seriously chic decor – dark panelling, thick grey carpet and elevators sealed by gold doors. Definitely a classic.

My jaw continued to drop as I discovered my room’s ambient lighting, chic wall-to-wall sofa area lined with grey houndstooth cushions in soft velvet, and the fashion tomes placed alongside…’

Museum Night Fever 2014, Brussels

On Saturday 22 February, Brussels museums are back with a huge burst of creativity. No fewer than 24 museums are taking part in this seventh Museum Night Fever, the annual night of Brussels museums.

Museum Night Fever

From 7.00 pm to 1.00 am, musicians, DJs, performers, dancers, actors, light sculptors and fashion students will be sharing with us how they see the museums’ collections. The intention of Museum Night Fever is to provide an alternative to the classic museum visit with an experimental and multidisciplinary programme.

Once again the programme is extremely varied – details will be available online at www.museumnightfever.be.

There will also be things to do outside the museums too, with all kinds of artistic interventions around the museums, plus performances and soundscapes inspired by the museums in the shuttle buses.

For the blind or partially sighted, bookings can be made for tailored support in the form of a ‘Blind Date’, a volunteer who will accompany them all evening to make the event accessible with the help of live and personalized audio description.

Special STIB shuttles will be operating between the various participating museums from 7.00 pm until 1.00 am. The shuttle service is included in the ticket price. New this year: your ticket will also allow you to use Noctis buses.

A fashion lunch in The Restaurant by IT-GIRL

It Girl - 01

Let’s rewind to august, when I had the most amazing sleepover in The Hotel? No need to add, I wanna go back! Maybe I should give my Boyfriend the sad puppy-eyes-look along with the hint to book a room for Valentine’s Day. And please my dearest boyfriend, do include a breakfast + dinner in The Restaurant. In November I organized a fashion lunch with 5 lucky it-girl.be readers and now, two months later, I’m still craving the oh so delicious plates the chefs made for us. Yes, that’s right – I said ‘chefs’.

It Girl - 02

The restaurant, the concept
Did you already hear about the concept? First off you have Belgian chef Pierre Balthazar who created this amazing team around him with Italian chef Luigi Taglienti (chef Trussardi in Milan, 1 Michelin star), French chef Michaël Fulci (Les Terraillers in Biot-Cannes) and Thai chef Oth Sombath (Aus Trois Nagas in Paris).

It Girl - 03

The menu of The Restaurant is set together by these three chefs who propose their interpretations of nine basic ingredients like eggs, mushrooms, … And each chef has it’s classic and creative dish. It’s a very interesting and culinary high-end menu.

It Girl - 04

And please, do notice the amazing environment you’re in. The Restaurant’s look and feel is spot on. Maybe at first you’ll miss out on the breathtaking view you have on top of The Hotel, but instead you’re enjoying the view of this pretty green getaway in the heart of Brussels.

It Girl - 05

Our menu
I had the opportunity to choose our menu, but whatever you’re getting, I don’t think you can
go wrong at The Restaurant. Such an interesting choice and variety of ingrediënts and

I choose the Italian Classic: Potato gnocchi with black truffle.
My favourite by far. This was so delicious. Everyone was ooh-ing and mmm-ing at every bite they took. Must-try!!

It Girl - 06main-course:
A French classic which I loved, Meunière-style sole with bouchon potatoes and spinach shoots. As you can see, no ordinary plates, but nicely decorated and culinary high-end dishes.

It Girl - 07

Everyone will agree, the most original tiramisu we ever had!

It Girl - 08

The Restaurant is the perfect new place to have your lunch while shopping in the fashionable neighbourhood. You have a lunch formula for only 25 euros. An it-girl must-visit!

Brussels Ice Magic including a room of The Hotel made out of ice

About 20 artist-sculptors from across the globe have reproduced dozens of famous characters and scens taken from the world of comic strips, but set in a typically Brussels’ setting…

420 tonnes of natural ice have been transformed, creating the worlds of TinTin, Quick & Flupke, the Smurfs, Gaston Lagaffe, Asterix, Boule et Bill, Thor, Spiderman, Lucky Luke, Thorgal and many others. Some of the sculptures and scenes are up to six meters high!

Especially for this occasion The Hotel has created a special offer – the Brussels Ice Magic Package – wich includes your entry for the Ice Magic Festival as well as a stay in The Hotel for one night, breakfast included!
